1’s get off the mark after COVID SCARE

Electing to bat first on a great wicket in Beaumaris, the Old xavs got off to a decent start, before Pirera (21) and Agnoletto (22) were both dismissed after making starts (surprise surprise). From then on, the batting innings was a struggle, with batters struggling to score with Russ and Livermore’s 14 a piece being the most significant contributions from the middle order. That was until Sealy (20) and George (27 not out) came together for an impressive partnership to see us make our way to 8/151 off our 40 overs.

With Covid depleting our teams fast bowling stocks significantly, Pirera as fil in Captain opted to open the bowling with Hayden Ellis (1/17 off 5) and George Stewart’s left arm offies. George ripped through MCC’s top order taking 3/29 off 8, and a run out. Fair to say George was our player of the match. Contributions from Fagan (2/12 off 5), Russ (2/12 off 5.3) and Pirera (1/6 off 3) saw MCC bowled out for 77. Special mention to Nick Harries’ impressive keeping taking three quality catches, in what was an impressive display of fielding all round.
