1’s simply dominant over Melbourne Uni

Winning the toss on a 34 degree Sunday afternoon, the 1st XI elected to bat against the bottom placed Melbourne Uni eager to cease a string of losses. Kane Pirera (127) got busy belting the openers to all parts of the ground, whilst Jack Fagan (114*) seized an opportunity to open by putting on a sturdy display, and holding his bat all the way through the innings! Jim Forrest (36) added to the innings at a run a ball, with the boys finishing at 3/303. The Melbourne Uni top 3 showed good intent, getting the side to a solid looking position, after 7-8 overs. Angus Sheedy (1/23) took an early one, but it was the return of self proclaimed "Club Legend" Nick Carabine (3/11 off 6), who put on a fantastic display of cross seam bowling, to swing the match back in the Old Xavs favour. Along with Callum Todaro (2/21 off 6) at first change, it was only their bowling of far too many wides that stopped economy rates at under 2 (something to address on Wednesday night)!
